truly glad there are few days as the last few
beating myself up for things I gave away
trying to silence my mind, as what's gone is gone
yet living without, sometimes cripples my day
life with scars inside can open and renew
but lack of nutrition for my child infuriates and angers
....and so does wondering how to put gifts under my tree

i've lived life graceful through ebb and flow
and even grateful when i've been thrown
so i know survival is what i make of it
but when it takes from my babies sometimes I double over
and cry out in magnified anger
christmas before, was my ultimate giving pleasure
i vow to return (next year) ... fill my tree with treasures
