In Flight...

United carries you away...again...1300 miles away, eastward
I know your strength, your courage, your smiling freedom
Determination and education focus, you certainly do not lack
I know your ambition and  faith in where you are going
Survival on basics, your ability to scrunch and pack!

Selfish again, my tears familiar to another "good-bye"
Returning home, traces of you left all over the house
I smile, I cry, I feel great pride lift me up
30 days of memories just doesn't seem enough
I fill myself with our hug, I love you, clinging to them tight

Familiar you are, with flying away...world traveller gold star!
Eyes closed now, you transition home...to future goals
One more semester then the world is yours
Flying away again, it will surely include
Dream sweet, Sweet girl, while you are in flight

My heart flies with you, WHEREVER you go
Come home soon pretty girl, for it will always await
To reconnect, balance and refresh your journey's walk
For I understand my purpose is now
To pray for safe passage; encouragement and support

I miss you, that will always be
If I didn't, what kind of mother would I be
I cherish all that we are and thank Him every day
For the daughter He gave and the beauty of her way
The silence at home now means there is thunder where you land

Leaving one home, flying to another
Bittersweet,  for moments today
Tomorrow...we'll pick up the dance
Smiling, because love travels any distance you go
